Creature Concept: Blue Secdec

The Blue Secdec is a viscous predator found in the coastal jungles of the planet Yathyme. Although the Secdec is among the smaller predators of the planet, it is one of the most deadly. The Secdec can run at speeds up to 35 kmh, and has a set of four razors at the end of its abdominal appendages. These blades are not used for hunting, however. They are meant for carving up the meat of its victims. Its real weapon lies on the long whip extruding from its spine. At the end of this extra appendage lies a large claw within which is a black venom that can thicken and solidify the blood of an animal within seconds. Combining its speed and agility with it's poisonous claw, most creatures do not stand a chance against it. Only skilled hunters of the planet's dominant species are likely to bring one down. 

Technically speaking, the Secdecs are considered an endangered species. They are known to be very lonesome creatures, and the eggs that they lay often don't gestate to maturity before dying. Their numbers dwindle lower than 10,000, however those numbers are in no danger of facing any fluctuation. Their diet and well-evolved biology gives them an unusually long lifespan of 80+ years while they find the chance to successfully breed, and their thick skin protects them from all outside attacks, making them the apex of their many habitats. These factors keep their population at a constant scarcity.
